Eleiko Olympic Wl Competition Disc Strength Eleiko A weightlifting disc is used for 500-600 lifts during a competition. The Eleiko Olympic WL Discs are tested for 5000 drops and produced in Sweden. The top quality is obvious. Not only due to the sophisticated colours and the high energy absorbing, synthetic rubber compound. Once you’ve putted your fingers around the practical gripping edge, you will have a hard time letting go… Every Eleiko competition disc is also calibrated. According to the IWF rules a disc weighing more than 5 kg must be +0,1% and -0,05%. This means that a 25 kg disc can at most weigh 25 grams more than it should. That means that it requires 215 000 pounds per square inch to pull the bar apart! The average Olympic bar usually runs about 130,000 to 150,000 PSI. Research has shown that anything under 190,000 PSI develops permanent bends over time. A total of ten precision bearings are fitted to each Eleiko bar for optimum rotation in order to prevent wrist and arm injuries.
